Hotels in St George, Bermuda
Aunt Nea's Inn at Hillcrest
1 Nea's Alley,
St. George GEO5,
Bermuda
Aunt Nea’s Inn is an upmarket Bermuda bed and breakfast which takes its name from the ‘Odes to Nea’; a volume of romantic verse by Irish poet and guest Thomas Moore. He stayed here for a short while in 1804 and put quill to paper in admiration of Hester Louisa Tucker, a young woman living next door to the Inn.
The Inn is famed for its luxurious and unparalleled beds. All rooms are appropriately furnished with antiques and include four-poster, canopy or sleigh beds. Tray ceilings with exposed cedar beams, a classic feature of early Bermudian architecture, give Aunt Nea’s Inn a genuine historic atmosphere.
The St. George's Club
6 Rose Hill
P.O. Box GE92,
St. George GEBX,
Bermuda
Far less stuffy than other cottage colonies, The St. George's Club resort encompasses 7 hectares (18 acres) atop Rose Hill (off York St.). It features clusters of traditionally designed Bermudian one- and two-bedroom cottages; all were completely renovated in 1996. For a family or for two or three couples traveling together and sharing a cottage, the price is reasonable. A shuttle bus takes guests to the beach club at Achilles Bay, about a 2-minute ride away, where the beach is sandy with some rocky outcroppings. The Atlantic waters are a bit turbulent in autumn and spring, but they calm during the summer. The complex functions primarily as a timeshare property; units are rented to the public when the owners are not using them. Cottages have private balconies or patios, comfortable living and dining areas, fully equipped kitchens, and bathrooms with sunken tubs (and showers) and marble vanities. Views are of the ocean, the pool, or the golf course.
The colony's elegant restaurant, Griffin's, is open to the public, and is among the finest dining rooms in the East End. Blackbeard's Hideout restaurant is also a popular rendezvous spot.
